Senate to look into link between Lejeune water and cancer - News14.com
CAMP LEJEUNE – The U.S. Senate is looking into a suspected link between tainted water and men with breast cancer at Camp Lejeune.
The Senate's environmental and public works committee is holding a hearing on a bill to improve testing and reporting on suspected cancer clusters, birth defects and other health concerns. The National Resource Defense Council and famous environmental activist Erin Brockovich testified before the Senate.
Investigators want to know if exposure to the poisoned water caused illnesses. As many as 1 million people were exposed to the contaminated water from the mid-1950s until the wells were closed in the mid 1980s.
Nearly 160,000 people have registered with the Marine Corps to get information about the contamination.
Some North Carolina representatives are pushing for legislation that requires the Navy and Marine Corps to help complete studies to determine a link.

“It has been a priority of mine to help provide closure to our former Lejeune families,” Hagan said. “This cannot happen until all ATSDR studies are complete, and until we ensure that these families exposed to water contaminants at Camp Lejeune receive the appropriate compensation from the VA. Congress, the Department of the Navy and ATSDR all need to work together on these efforts.”

No other story needs to be told. Mother Russia had a chance to save her men, but the decision makers chose to let them die, just like the Marine Corps and the Dept. of the Navy. Hell, the Navy doesn't like Marines in the first place. It was easier, less costly, and dead men tell no tales. That is why.
