Update: Deadline set in banned Bible study case
The sequence of events developed this way.
"On April 10, 2009, Good Friday, a female county employee came to the Joneses' residence. The county employee appeared in the front yard and proceeded to take pictures of our clients' home," the letter said. "She noticed the Joneses' daughters in the front yard and asked to speak with their mother. Although she did not provide any paper work or identification, subsequent information obtained by the WCLP leads us to believe that the county employee who went to the Joneses' residence was Code Enforcement Officer Cherie Cham."
"Do you have a regular weekly meeting in your home? Do you sing? Do you say 'amen'?" the official reportedly asked. "Do you say, 'Praise the Lord'?"
The pastor's wife answered yes.

This one story I can't seem to help myself in following ... read the rest of this story. Free Speech under attach with a few others as well, like freedom of releigion, freedom to assembly and no doubt some others. Do not allow this to happen in your home town.

Cap and Trade and a Value Added Tax
--Mouse droppings - Repeal the 16th Amendment!
Breaking News - Could There Be a VAT in Your Future?
Things are moving pretty quickly in Washington these days.
Here is a Washington Post headline called "Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/26/AR2009052602909.html
To summarize, the President and Congress are considering a VAT (Value Added Tax) that might coexist with some changes to the income tax.
Here's what the Post says about a VAT.
"A VAT is a tax on the transfer of goods and services that ultimately is borne by the consumer. Highly visible, it would increase the cost of just about everything, from a carton of eggs to a visit with a lawyer. It is also hugely regressive, falling heavily on the poor."
While the increase in retail price is highly visible, the actual tax is not because a VAT is embedded into the price of the goods or services as they move through the manufacture or delivery process. So the price you pay will be high, but you won't know how much of that price is the VAT. Just as you don't know how much of the prices you pay today are the result of income, payroll, and other taxes and tax compliance costs of the businesses that create and sell what you buy.

Investor's Business Daily was right on top of this story with a poll.
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/Polls.aspx?id=328320428336434
But when do politicians listen to polls that they disagree with?
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) was bold enough to state on the Senate floor during the TARP debate in September that her office had received over 85,000 calls from constituents running 95% against the bailout, yet she voted for it, because she knew better.
Look at Congressman Henry Waxman. With encouragement from the president, he is going full bore to get a Cap and Trade bill onto his desk despite similar polls showing vast disapproval of the idea.
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/Polls.aspx?id=327111385953165
When you look at these polls, you'll see that about 10% to 15% (look at the "Not Sure" percentages) of Americans are clueless or uninformed about their government.

Cap and Trade and a Value Added Tax are both targets that the TEA party movement must address.
The possibility of an income tax and a sales tax should have the entire country up in arms.

Al Gore and Co. Must be Stopped
*Posted as a concerned citizen who believes in this cause. If you do, please donate and pass along the information.
Gore must be stopped, he must not be allowed to steal generations of income.
SAY NO TO GORE. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEN! TELL THEM NO, NO AND HELL NO!
Mouse droppings-
From American Solutions-
And as Politico reports, he's had a "hidden helping hand" this week from Al Gore.
They write that Gore has "mobilized his green grass roots, marshaled his well-endowed lobbying organization and even personally called Democratic committee members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee."
So, we're launching a nationwide "Stop the Energy Tax" campaign to stop this.
It's been estimated that the Waxman energy tax bill would raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500, and destroy 1-3 million jobs per year, over the next 15 years.
Can you afford to pay $1,500 more a year for energy?
Our "Stop the Energy Tax" campaign is how we can fight back, but the first step is launching it.We need to raise $100,000 in the next two days, so we can set up a rapid-response operation, create internet ads, and deliver your petitions to Congress.
Think about this - you are one of 1.3 million people getting this email today. If 10,000 members chip in just $15, we'll beat our goal.
Can you make a secure donation right now for $15, $25 or whatever you can afford? If so, here's the link to contribute:http://www.americansolutions.com/contribute/index.php?id=70180000000JAdi§ion=energytax
A generous donor has agreed to match up to $100,000 in online donations. Your contribution today will have double the impact in stopping this massive tax increase.
We can have a "Full Power" American energy policy that produces more energy here at home while protecting the environment. This will lead to more jobs and a more prosperous America.
Thank you for what you're doing.Your friend,
Newt Gingrich, General Chairman, American Solutions for Winning the Future
P.S. Remember, a generous donor is standing by to match your donation if we can reach $100,000 in the next two days. If we can get this campaign rolling, we'll be able to take this fight to Rep. Waxman and Al Gore, and all those who would punish the American people with higher energy taxes. Click here to make a secure donation of $15, $25, or whatever you can afford.

Barney Frank Lies About ACORN
The American Spectator : Barney Frank Lies About ACORN
By Matthew Vadum on 5.21.09 @ 6:07AM
House Financial Services Committee chairman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) lied to Lou Dobbs on national television the other night but no one seems to have noticed.
On the May 18 edition on CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) said she was worried about the fact that ACORN and other organizations would "have access potentially to $8.5 billion" in federal funds.

from Minnesota Congressman Michele Bachmann
Well, lo and behold: Just yesterday, the House passed – with Chairman Frank’s vote -- the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act with a provision that sets new eligibility requirements for lenders to be approved Federal Housing Administration (FHA) lenders. One of the standards is that the lenders may not employ individuals that are “under indictment for, or have been convicted of, an offense that reflects adversely upon the applicant’s integrity, competence or fitness to meet the responsibilities of an approved mortgagee.” This was in both the original House-passed bill and yesterday’s Senate version. There’s no blaming this on a compromise with the Senate.

Bachmann vs Frank on ACORN
Facing off against Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank on ACORN with CNN's Lou Dobbs. The question is, why should the federal government and the American taxpayer be funding supposedly non-profits groups like ACORN to the tune of billions of dollars? ACORN has been indicted and its employees convicted time and time again, yet the taxpayer continues to fund their fraudulent behavior.

NYT Finally Admits It Spiked Obama/ACORN Corruption Story | NewsBusters.org
Acknowledging what the blogosphere has known for weeks, the New York Times finally went on record to admit that just before last Election Day it killed a politically sensitive news story involving corruption allegations that might have made the Obama campaign look bad.
But the admission on Sunday, which came seven months after NYT staff reporter Stephanie Strom's reporting about possibly illegal coordination between the Obama campaign and ACORN last year, took the form of a snarky column from Clark Hoyt, the Old Gray Lady's "public editor." Hoyt used the word "nonsense" to describe the allegations of impropriety leveled against ACORN and the Obama campaign.

Obama Sways Congressman to Pass on New York Senate Democratic Primary - Presidential Politics | Political News - FOXNews.com
Can you say stacking the deck?
It's rare for a president to inject himself into statewide politics. And a host of New York political insiders with ties to several House Democrats say they're angry that the president even got involved.
"What? You can't have a primary? It's decided in backroom deals?" asked a source who spoke to FOX News on the condition of anonymity. "What if someone told Obama he couldn't have a primary and Hillary (Clinton) would just be the nominee? Where would he be? It's an outrage."

Anyone, said T.S. Eliot, could carve a goose, were it not for the bones. It also is careless regarding constitutional values and is acquiring a tincture of lawlessness.

Bill Cosby- Write-in for 2012
Mouse droppings-
Bill Cosby has always had a great way of distilling things. Looks like
he's done it again! Some of these are very good points!!
I HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE in 2012.
HERE IS MY PLATFORM:
(1) 'Press 1 for English' is immediately
banned. English is the official language; speak it or wait
at the border until you can--we'll send Peace Corps
volunteers to help set up ESL centers.
(2) We will immediately go into a two year
isolationist posture to straighten out the country's
attitude. NO imports, no exports. We will
use 'Wal-Mart 's policy, 'If we ain't
got it, you don't need it.'
(3) When imports are allowed after those two years,
there will be a 100% import tax on all of them..or whatever
percentage the exporting country charges US for our goods
going the other way.
(4) All retired military personnel will be required to
man one of our many observation towers on the southern
border (90 day tours, with benefits). They will be
under strict orders not to fire on SOUTHBOUND aliens.
(5) Social security will immediately return to its
original state. If you didn't put nuttin in, you
ain't getting nuttin out--and that includes CONGRESS:
not the President nor any other politician will be able to
touch it..
(6) Welfare - Checks will be handed out on Fridays at

If you didn't put nuttin in, you
ain't getting nuttin out--and that includes CONGRESS:
not the President nor any other politician will be able to
touch it..
(6) Welfare - Checks will be handed out on Fridays at
the end of the 40 hour school week and the successful
completion of urinalysis and a passing grade.
(7) Professional Athletes--Steroids... The FIRST time

I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied history all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes, these exist but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about 10 - 15 years.
The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demanded and then codified into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people whom we knew could never pay back? Why? We learned recently that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September.
Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "We the People," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.) The list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x 10. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important.)
Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change...radical change. Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now. This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming.
And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission.
And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.
He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and...change. And the people surely got what they voted for. (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.) Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years - a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency - it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust);
I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong, close my eyes, have another latte and ignore what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me; others laugh or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe - and why I believe it. I pray I am wrong.. But, I do not think I am.

Everybody that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting close, or knows somebody that is.
Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus" bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle, was quoted by Bloomberg with the following statement:
Daschle says "Health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them." ???!!!
If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.
Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out. Talk it up at the grassroots level. We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. We have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we can make our voices heard! Let's do it!

Are the States Up Next for a Bailout?
The latest word around Capitol Hill is that Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank’s next big legislative item is to put the full faith and credit of the United States up as a guarantee for state and municipal bonds. In fact, he held a foundation-laying hearing for such legislation just this week.

Jail evicts Keyes against his will
WND is the first news source to speak with Keyes following his release.
"It was weird, because I said, 'I don't want to leave; I didn't post any bond,'" Keyes explained. "But the police wouldn't let me stay. I asked them, 'Has anyone ever been re-arrested for resisting expulsion?' They laughed, for they had never heard anything like that. It didn't seem like the appropriate time to be engaging in civil disobedience."

American Thinker: The Top Ten Reasons Obamanomics Won't Work
A brute inflationary monetary policy of the kind we are experiencing today can hardly avoid leading to a growth in GDP that, after all, is largely a record of consumer spending. But we cannot judge an economic policy to be "working" simply by detecting such an increase in GDP. Nor may we say policy has "succeeded" just from increases in government jobs or government-subsidized jobs. An economy's success, properly speaking, is one that increases long-term levels of production with robust private sector employment. In short, inflation and public sector growth do not mean a policy has "worked." As the essence of Obamanomics is easy money and government aggrandizement, there are lots of reasons for pessimism. Here are ten of them

Since the 60’s, liberal women have been beating their heads against the wall, trying to be “equal”. Conservative women already know that we’re equal - we don’t need an amendment to tell us that. We don’t need to go to go to the legislative powers that be and wage political war to validate ourselves. We have been feminists since before liberals invented the term “feminist” - we didn’t wait for the government to grant us “permission” to be equal. We know what we want, then we simply go out and get it. Confidence breeds success, and that success is the very reason we are despised by liberals. Our independence and confidence embody everything they have been trying to obtain through legislation for decades.
Anyone who follows politics is familiar with the tactics of the Left when it comes to conservative women. I’ll spare everyone the rehashing of how Palin was treated since it’s been so widely covered (c*** tee-shirts, hanging her in effigy, etc), but the hatred coming from liberals toward us is not limited to national candidates. Conservative bloggers and commentators regularly receive threats and are lambasted by hate mail. We get photoshopped into pornographic pictures. We are attacked on the most personal levels they can possibly manage.
Why these ideological rifts? I believe it’s because the Left has been telling us for nearly 50 years that in order to be a “feminist” you need to be a victim. On a lot of levels, the draw of women to liberalism makes sense - they want to empathize with the woman trapped in the circumstances. They relate to the single mother who has 3 children and can’t afford to feed them. We’re emotional creatures - it’s natural for us to respond with our hearts. However, it is exactly this response that breeds the victim mentality of so many liberal women.
Conservative women are different. We do not view ourselves as victims. We don’t need the government to take care of us. At my core, I am a conservative because I believe in personal responsibility. I believe that in the case of abortion, the choice is made BEFORE you find out you’re pregnant. Once you’re pregnant, you’ve made your choice, and you are responsible for the life you’ve created. I believe that once you have children, you are responsible for their welfare - I am not. The idea that people need to handle their own affairs is one that escapes the Left on many levels, but the emotional connection to women’s affairs seems to further cloud the issue.
Several weeks ago, Tammy Bruce was on O’Reilly to talk about the Eminem attack on Sarah Palin. When O’Reilly asked if there was ANYONE who would go to bat for conservative women, Tammy could only mention one group: Smart Girl Politics.
We kicked off last fall, following the Presidential election. Since then we have grown to around 10,000 members. Smart Girl Nation is an online webzine for conservative women. We are here to talk about things that are relevant to you - politically and otherwise. Comment. Become a part of this community. Our goal with this site is to educate, empower, and engage conservative women. This is your site. We are glad to have you on board.

Taxpayers to Get Rude Surprise
Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.
The government is going to want some of that money back.
The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.

FEMA Blasted Over 9/11 Images In Children’s Coloring Book
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been forced to remove sections of a children’s coloring book from its website after concerned parents made complaints regarding the use of crude images of the 9/11 attacks.
The disaster preparedness activity book, titled ‘A Scary Thing Happened,’ features various disasters, such as hurricanes and floods, and includes an illustration on it’s cover showing what is clearly one of the World Trade Center towers on fire with a plane flying toward the second tower.

Four terms? As many terms as he wants?????? Check it out for yourself. Please. You need never take my word for anything ... but I would hope you would care enough to check things out for yourself.

In the name of feminism-
I watched Laura Ingram filling in for Bill OReilly tonight. Her guest, Gloria Feldt, a feminist, was on with her. Topic of discussion was Carrie Prejean and the treatment she has received from (lame) "entertainment" personalities. Laura asked her where the feminist were while this woman has been visciously attack and degraded.
Why are they not standing up for her and why are they allowing her to be treated as she has been over the last two weeks? Now the pageant officials wish to strip her crown because she is speaking out for the family unit and premise of traditional marriage. How dare they! Who do they think they are to be her thought police? She has the right to her own opinion and she has the right to speak out for it since it was made into an issue, not by her but by others who feel they have license to trample all over her for her beliefs.
Gloria Feldt (gloriafeldt.com) seems to think she deserves what she is getting. She seems to think Carrie Prejean needs a heart transplant. Feminism = justice and equality? I do not think so Gloria! If so, you would seek justice for this young woman, you would be protecting her from the maliciousness and you wouldn't be adding smarly comments about her physical appearance. You might want to hold off on anymore botox, it seems to have gone straight to your brain and made it not work quite right. Where is your heart Gloria Feldt? Maybe you need a heart and brain transplant instead.
WHAT? How can anyone, especially a woman, stand by and allow self-serving, egotistical maniacs trashtalk what seems to me as a bright, beautiful young woman who has worked hard to get to the pageantry and was raised with what appears to be 'christian values'. What is wrong with Christan values? I admit, I myself am not a Christan. I myself could care less for the religious sect. I went to church when I was younger. I saw how people look down their noses and judged you. I saw how they went to church, then go home, got mad or sometimes drunk, beat their kids and then go back to church that night as all is forgiven. No thanks... I don't need religion like that. I do however feel that the principles of the bible are solid and good for one and all. I find nothing in the Ten Commandments nor the Constitution that is put forth to hurt a one human soul. The principles and practice of basic goodness is for all people. I may not feel church is for me, but I surely do think that tolerance and goodness is something everyone should strive to achieve.
What is wrong with a woman answering honestly a question that I do not think should have ever been asked in such a forum? I blame the pageant people. If you don't want to hear the answer and accept it as my own thought, then don't ask! Why is that when one does speak their mind, nasty people have to make fun, resort to calling them horrible names because they aren't kissing up to what the judge wants to hear. How dare they! How dare they push their own personal agendas. How dare HIM!
I never became a 'feminist' even though I thought, in my 20's (with the second wave of feminism 1960-1980's in the process), they were all about equality for women in the workplace. I agreed with that premise. It seemed fair that I should be paid the same as my male counterparts for the same work. However, I have worked with women who were paid more than I and did a lot less work. There is and never will be equality in the workplace.
I thought, if you worked hard, showed your bosses that you were there to give your best abilities to help the company in which you worked grow and make profit, that recognition and promotions would come and money would surely follow. WRONG! No one really cares how hard you work or how loyal you are no matter if you work for man or a woman. I have worked for both. There is no difference.
When I grew up, (sheltered as a military dependant) women were expected to find a husband, have babies and take care of her family and home. They were also expected to pitch in and help out when the family unit was in financial crunch. If you wanted to go to college, you paid for it, not your parents. You worked and went to school at the same time. If you wanted a career you could have one. Fair enough. I got married, I worked and went to college without the help of any feminist. In fact without the help of anyone. I did it, me, all by myself.
Over the last 30 years, the family unit has collapsed. Women are expected/forced to work long hours outside the home only to come home and work longer hours taking care of the family and home. How is this fair? How is this equal? Why have women been told over the last thirty years that you must work, you must have a career and that the family should take a backseat to your ambition? Why is that women who choose to be at home, raise their children and take care of their family is somehow less of a woman than those who run corporations or have a career? This premise is wrong on so many levels.
What the hell have these FEMINIST done to our families? I blame them for the loss of the family. I blame them for forcing women to carry the burden of two and three jobs, paid and unpaid. I blame them for not standing up for ALL women, no matter what their personal beliefs are. Shame on those feminist!
Women having babies alone without the help of a mate, so they are forced to add to the welfare roles...is what they wanted? Children having babies! Is that what they wanted? Did they want children to go to school only to come home to an empty house, spend hours unsupervised and left to their own devices as to what is right and what is wrong. We have children killing children now! The family unit has been destroyed in the name of feminism.
Now they cannot bring themselves to defend a young woman from the devastating harassment and intolerance in which she has been subjected to. They can't be bothered. Ms. Fedlt is an embarrassment to women. She has participated in the loss of our family unit and many children have suffered in the process. I hope the feminist are proud of this accomplishment.
I am glad I never became a feminist, I would hate to be represented by this woman, Gloria Feldt and others like her. If they cannot defend all women, then they need to get out of their feminist skirts, put on some pants and join the rest of us in the trenches. I'm glad I never became a feminist. I think what they have done to the family unit has done far more damage than making sure we get treated equally even though they cannot seem to treat other women equally.

High School 1957 vs. 2009
Mouse droppings
HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2009
Scenario 1: Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over; looks at Jack's shotgun; goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2009 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.
Scenario 2: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2009 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled..... though Johnny started it.
Scenario 3: Jeffrey will not be still in class; he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class; sits still; and does not disrupt class again.
2009 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.
Scenario 4: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time; grows up normal; goes to college; and becomes a successful businessman.
2009 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.
Scenario 5: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.
2009 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.
Scenario 6: Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school; passes English; and goes to college.
2009 - Pedro 's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist.. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro 's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway.... but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.
Scenario 7: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July; puts them in a model airplane paint bottle; and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2009 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents -- and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
Scenario 8: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better... and goes on playing.
2009 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces three years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.
Sad state of affair, the innocence of youth is stolen, common sense and compassion lost.
